Nainital itinerary 3 days

Nainital is an idyllic town in the state of Uttarakhand and is located on the Kumaon region of the outer Himalayan range. The scenic beauty and natural charm of the place adds to its charm. It is situated at an altitude of 2084 meters. The town is also an ideal place for trekking and mountain hiking trips. The summer months are cool and pleasant while the winter months are chilly. The town receives snowfall between the months of December and February.

Day 1: Nainital Sightseeing

After you arrive at Nainital, relax at the hotel and then go for local sightseeing. Some of the popular points of interests include Nainital Lake, St. John in the Wilderness Church, Governor’s House, Gurney House, High Court of Uttarakhand, Snow View and Tiffin Top. The Tiffin Top offers spectacular views of the surrounding landscape.

At the Nainital Lake, you can enjoy a nice boat ride. There are small boats that are wonderfully decorated.

Day 2: Sightseeing to Naina Devi temple

Go for trips to the Naina Devi temple and the Naini Peak. Naina Devi temple is a famous religious spot in the town. The town derives its name from Naina Devi, who is the deity of the region. The temple is situated by the side of the scenic Nani Lake. The temple is one of the shaktipiths in the country. According to legend, it was built during the Kushana period in the 15th century.

After you visit the temple, trek to the Naini Peak. It is the highest point in the town and rises up to an altitude of 2611 m above the sea level. It is famous for the breathtaking view of the entire town and the snowcapped mountains. If you are lucky, you can also be able to see the Nanda Devi and other famous peaks like Trishul. The Naini Lake can also be seen from the top.

Day 3: Excursion to Almora

After breakfast, drive to Almora. This picturesque hill station is located at an altitude of 5,417 feet in the Kumaon Hills of the Himalayas. Spend the whole day at Almora and visit popular tourist spots like Rudreshwar Mahadev Temple, Kasar Devi Temple, Jageshwar Temple, and Binsar Mahadev Temple. If you are inclined to adventure, you can undertake mountain biking, river rafting, mountain hiking and so on.

Drive back to Nainital and relax at the hotel. Go to some local shops and buy local handicrafts.
